Generation Church Leadership Honor Code

Paul emphasizes in his letters to Timothy and Titus that leaders and teachers are held to a higher standard.

Titus 1:7-8
"Since an overseer [leader] manages God’s household, he must be blameless – not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined."

At Generation Church, we believe that leadership is a calling that comes with great responsibility. This Honor Code serves as a guide for those who desire to lead, ensuring that our lives reflect the standard God has called us to as His followers.

As leaders, our words and actions—both in person and online—should set an example for others to follow. Whether in areas of personal conduct, speech, modesty, or lifestyle choices, we strive to live in a way that honors God and encourages others to grow in their faith. Living above reproach is not about rules or restrictions, but about a commitment to a life that glorifies God and serves others well.

Our Commitment as Leaders

Leadership at Generation Church is rooted in personal devotion, spiritual disciplines, and consistent participation in the life of the church. As leaders, we commit to:

  • Maintaining a growing relationship with God through prayer, Bible study, and worship.
  • Upholding biblical standards in all aspects of life.
  • Creating a culture that is uplifting, encouraging, and free from behaviors that could harm ourselves, others, or the church community.

Areas of Integrity

To protect the integrity of our leadership and our witness as Christ-followers, we ask leaders to refrain from the following:

  • Ungodly Speech – This includes gossip, slander, profanity, or any form of speech that tears others down. This also applies to online interactions and social media.
  • Addictions & Substance Use – We ask leaders to avoid gambling, the use of tobacco products, illegal or recreational drugs, and alcohol.
  • Sexual Integrity – We uphold the biblical standard that sexual activity is reserved for marriage between a man and a woman. Leaders should not cohabitate outside of marriage, engage in sexual immorality, or consume pornography.

A Culture of Care

We believe in creating environments that reflect holiness and foster spiritual growth. As such, Generation Church leaders are expected to abstain from alcohol in both their personal lives and public witness. To ensure we are not a stumbling block to others, including those in recovery or struggling with addiction, we ask leaders to refrain from posting any content related to alcohol on social media. In alignment with Romans 14:13 and Matthew 22:39, we prioritize the well-being of others and our commitment to a Christ-centered life over personal preference.

Additionally, any gathering or event affiliated with Generation Church (before, during, or after) should remain alcohol-free, ensuring a welcoming and safe space for all.
